False Microsoft phone call?
Today and on Thursday I received a phone call from these people claiming that they are from Microsoft and that they want me to go to this website and install something on my computer, I said no and asked what it is for. He said "its so that we can remotely control your laptop and see what problems it has". I said that I have paid security software and If anything goes wrong with my laptop that I have it insured for whatever happens to it. He said "ok then, I hope your laptop doesn't crash, which it will it the next 1 or 2 days and when you get the blue screen error you cannot blame Microsoft for this". I said "don't worry if anything goes wrong with my laptop I can get it fixed with my insurance." He then said "ok, your computer will be removed from the Microsoft registry list."
Now if he was calling from Microsoft wouldn't he send me to the Microsoft website? Not to some remote software crap.

I have been called twice in the last 2 weeks by the same scammers. I told the guy calling that he was a criminal. He didn't understand. I told him that he was committing a crime and that the police would be calling on him....he slammed down the phone.
Microsoft or any reputable company will not call you and ask you to do anything with your computer. Anyone calling you and asking you to do that is a scammer out to get your personal information and to get you to buy something using your credit card to fix "problems" that the find on your computer.
Don't allow them to do anything and don't give them any information.

It's a scam.
Why would Microsoft be phoning you? Their technical support costs $250 per issue, why would they do it for free if they can sell it at that price?

We ALL occasionally get this type of approach - even via e-mail.
Treat this call, and any others you may well receive in the future, as I do.
Put the phone down!!
This is more than likely a scam in one form or another, and simply some company attempting to sell you their dubious product using lies, scare tactics and other means.
It's a variation of unwanted and unwelcome 'junk mail'
